Alabama (?) Black Cat Video

This heavily edited video has been around a while. YouTube embedding is disabled, but you can watch it here. Evidently filmed from a deer stand, allegedly in Alabama south of Selma, with a buck actually in the field watching the cat. There is little to use for scale, however, and although it appears large, black house cat cannot be ruled out. It's interesting that the buck seems nervous about the cat, though.

  1. I have seen the jaguarunda 3 times on my property in Cuba, al, while deer hunting. The first time i thought it was some type of weasel. the next two times I had a much closer look. My neighbor has also seen one.

    1. Just returned from a day in Conecuh National Forest. A cat-like animal ran across a forest service road very fast. We only got a glimpse
of the animal but it appears to best fit the
description of a jaguarundi. We found the tracks
made as it crossed the woods road. Because of the
sandbed and the fast pace, the tracks were of
      little help.

  11. I've seen two black colored jaquarundi in Alabama - one, when I was a Park Ranger and it ran across a road South of Selma in the Kings Bend area of Alabama River, late 1980s, another near Ft. Gaines on Dauphin Island, and in a third and close encounter, locked stares with a Chestnut colored one, six feet away, in the Mobile River delta.

  12. I saw something very similar to this run across a wheeler trail in a wooded swampy area of Hardaway, AL recently. Very fast, long lean body, long tail, dark grey coat and low to the ground.
